Carina Sim-Smith

I am an artist and marine biologist based in Auckland, New Zealand. I love spending time outdoors, whether it be hiking, sailing, skiing or scuba diving. The natural environment we live in never fails to lift my spirits and I am drawn to try and capture the essence of our beautiful country, celebrating New Zealand's unique terrain and its role as a place of retreat and renewal. My paintings are inspired by the places I have explored, and I am particularly draw to capturing the awe-inspiring moments when the effort of a climb is met with an expansive, light-filled vista. I work with acrylic and oil on canvas, and my contemporary realist style balances detail with atmosphere, evoking both the grandeur and tranquility of the wilderness. My work is available as original paintings and limited edition prints and I am happy to do commissions of subjects that are special to you.
